Been laid low with a mystery bug that seems to have swept across Lincolnshire towards the end of last week. My friend Matthew Roebuck, author of The Other Olympics, texted me with a raft of possible explanations from Yellow Belly Fever to Sleaford Sickness and Deeping Vein Thrombosis.
Anyway, it meant that I was unable to get down to writing much until today and I have almost finished off the 2007/8 season. Found some great snippets from old emails and match reports including my own way of dealing with a lack of sleep:
“Pouring water over me during hockey games to stay awake has been a usual remedy. The last three games have seen our keeper kick the ball into my knee, shin, and thumb so I’m quite bruised. Also nursing a probably broken little finger.”
Back to the library next week to remind myself of what happened in the final three games, then I have a meeting with the Grantham Journal, who want to make a feature out of my e-books. Should be interesting…
