I haven’t done much updating here for a while. Those of you who follow me on Twitter will know that recently suffered a depressed cheek fracture playing hockey, which was particularly inconvenient coming as it did right in the middle of the ICC World Twenty20.
Nevertheless, we pressed on and as the Cricket World team, have completed ‘A Win For The People’, which is our take on the tournament, including match reports from every game, scorecards and exclusive analysis from myself and Daniel Grummitt.
We have basically taken the idea that I had of doing on my own and used the input of four of us to produce a much better (and longer) book.
You can buy it now for Kindle (£7.20) and I am hopeful it will be available as a paperback in the next 10 days, and you’ll be able to get your hands on it for £9.99.
In other news, I’ve made it back to the top 10 cricket books on Kindle with Return To The Crease – sandwiched between Marcus Trescothick and Paul Nixon.
Sales of 1,309 Days Later are steady – nothing to retire on but enough to make sure the hockey club will get some sort of cheque next year and the Grantham Journal finally caught up with me for an interview and hopefully will run a piece on the story.
What next? Not sure. I have a few ideas but having been involved in publishing five books this year for myself/Cricket World I think I deserve a little break.
2013 brings the Women’s World Cup which I would like to write on. One of my first ideas for a book some years ago was to write about how England’s women hit the heights in 2009 so I have some definite ideas on how I might approach this one.
In the meantime, I will allow my head to heal (no hockey until the New Year and even then I’ve got to get used to wearing some sort of head protection) so any follow up to 1,309 Days Later is going to be dominated by trips to the hospital seeing as we’ve had two other team-mates also hospitalised in the last six weeks.
Stay safe out there.
